Happy Galentine’s Day! Today we are celebrating Galentine’s with our lovely friend Dianne from Miami Food Pug. As huge Parks & Recreation fans, we decided to hang out and celebrate our friendship. If you haven’t seen the TV show Parks and Recreation (OMG you totally should!), there’s a crazy awesome character called Leslie Knope played by hilarious Amy Poehler. She celebrates Galentine’s, the best holiday of the year, every February 13th with her gal pals.
The holiday usually involves waffles because Leslie Knope loves waffles. So when Dianne presented her Galentine’s gift, it couldn’t have been more appropriate – adorably packaged waffle mix. Check out the episode for all of our shenanigans and gift ideas for Galentine’s. Enjoy!
Yay! It’s Christmas Eve today and we are so excited to show off our Holiday outfits! We partnered up with Laura from The Fashion Diva & local photographer Saskya Cabral for a Winter Wonderland photoshoot and couldn’t wait to share it with you.
Laura and I decided to go for traditional red and green colors this year. So we put on our Christmas dresses and headed on out to the local Santa playland in Coral Gables. It’s a really cute park they build every year with Santa’s house where you can get your picture taken with Santa during specific hours. You can also find a train for kids to play on, an elf’s workshop house, and (my favorite) a sleigh pulled by an adorable little pony. It’s a great place for kids to play and to be fair, we also had a blast there too! Continue Reading
Today we proudly bring you our Labbit collection. The labbit is a magnificent little bunny that usually comes with a stache or cigarette. Designed by Frank Kozik and made by Kidrobot. Why do we love this little guy so much? Is it its rotund shape? Dashing mustache? Or the beauty of its simplicity? ALL of the above! They’re huggable (plushie version) and adorable. Yet, they come with cigarettes and stubble (Smorkin’ Labbit). I know! How can you not love these grungy little suckers?
Today we bring you Izzie’s favorite handbags. They all happen to be Betsey Johnson bags. There’s something so whimsical and kitschy about these bags that I just love. I also love their chunkiness. My favorite accents are the bows and in the case of my phone purse I can live with it not having a bow because it has ROTARY PHONE instead! And it works too! Just plug in the auxilary cable to your cell and you can pick up phone calls with the bag’s phone handle. I’ve had these bag for a while already so they are not easy to find anymore. We’ve added links below to similar bags to the ones in our video. Enjoy!
This past weekend was the August South Florida Bloggers Meetup and we had a blast! All the bloggers that attend dress up super cute so I had to have a cute dress. I was lucky that Izzie gave me this adorable colorblock dress for my birthday this month. So I didn’t have to even think about the outfit. I knew exactly what I was wearing for the event. I always wear short dresses with tights so I can feel comfortable. Also, I’m not the best at behaving like a proper lady to prevent showing my undies throughout the day. So I tend to wear leggings or tights with my outfits. I don’t have to worry too much about how I sit or pick up something that fell on the floor. Yes, cuteness is important but comfort first! Keep reading to shop the outfit 😉 Continue Reading
I’m proud to present my first amigurumi project that does not look like a lumpy and misshapen egg. Ta daaa! I created Molang by following the free pattern by AmiguruMei.com. She has great, free amigurumi patterns. I highly recommend you check out her other adorable creatures.
My little guy seems to have come out much bigger than hers so I did a little research. I found some great tips here: AllAboutAmi.com. Apparently, my yarn was too thick and my hook size too big. I used the recommended hook that was illustrated on the yarn packaging but amigurumi experts recommend you use 2-3 times smaller hook than what the yarn label says.
However, if you do like the chubby size of my amigurumi bunny below are the materials I used:
Below is my first try at Molang. I’m sure it didn’t help that I was following the pattern incorrectly. (I skipped like 10 lines by mistake)
Ehhhh, yes, something went very wrong along the way. I still love him though and gave it to one of my best friends as a birthday gift 🙂
If you’re local to Coral Gables, like me :), and would like to learn to crochet you should check out the Knitting Garden. It’s a wonderful and charming local shop and they are very helpful with newbies like me. They have knitting and crochet workshops that look great. I will most definitely be attending one soon myself.
